Remembering Kronus

As many of you may or may not know former ECW tag-team champion John Kronus was found dead. As of yet no details have been released but nothing suspicious has been found. I would like to take a look back at his career.

John Kronus was most famous for being one half of arguably the most popular tag-team in ECW's history, the Eliminators along with Perry Saturn. Kronus held numerous tag-team championships in ECW and the USWA with Saturn and New Jack. The team was famous for their finishing move the Total Elimination where Kronus would hit a spin kick on their opponent high while Saturn hit a spin kick low. The Eliminators had amazing fueds with the likes of the Gangstas, the Pitbulls, the Dudleys, and the team of Rob Van Dam and Sabu. Kronus (real name George Caiazo) first appeared in wrestling after Perry Saturn (real name Perry Satullo) met him in a club while Kronus was working as bouncer. Saturn sent Kronus to Killer Kowalski for training and then formed a tag-team known as the Eliminators. Saturn and Kronus first garnered fame working for the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) winning the tag-team titles once defeating Eddie Gilbert and Brian Christopher. The Eliminators first debuted in ECW at "Gangstas Paradise" teaming with Jason to defeat Taz and the Steiner Brothers. The Eliminators would win their first ECW tag-team titles defeating Cactus Jack and Mikey Wripwreck. The Eliminators then engaged in a bloody feud with the Gangstas which saw the Gangstas dethrone the Eliminators as tag-team champions. After the Eliminators regained the tag titles they saw new competition in the team of Rob Van Dam and Sabu which produced many amazing matches. The Eliminators then went on to feud with the Dudleys for a short time before Saturn tore some ligaments in his knee and the team was forced to disband.

After the Eliminators, Kronus went on to have semi-fame teaming with New Jack collectively known as the Gangstinators. The team would win the tag-team titles at the "As Good As it Gets" defeating the Dudleys in a match that saw New Jack's first ever balcony dive. Kronus left ECW in 1999 and joined the California based hardcore promotion XPW. He stayed with XPW until 2001. Kronus retired in 2002. Kronus then reappeared briefly competing in the Hardcore Homecoming reunion tour.

The Eliminators were one of the most beloved teams in wrestling history. Kronus will be remembered for his amazing athletic ability and brawling skills. Wrestling has lost one half of one of the greatest tag-teams ever. He will be missed.
